Super Intimate
Wendy & Mark had a super intimate wedding at Gleneagles Townhouse in St Andrews Square, Edinburgh, and it was honestly one of the sweetest days I’ve ever photographed. Wendy initially didn’t want a photographer at all – she was planning a tiny celebration with just 12 close family members. But her celebrant, Yvonne Hannah (a good friend of mine), knew how important it is to capture even the smallest weddings, and recommended me.
After a chat, Wendy decided to go for it – and I’m so glad she did! She even left a lovely review afterwards: “Laura was absolutely outstanding. She designed the perfect package for us. We didn’t want staged photos, we wanted relaxed, fun and magical memories, and that’s exactly what Laura created. We felt like we were just mates hanging out and having a great time…she had so many wonderful ideas and created stunning and captivating photos. I’m absolutely over the moon that I chose Laura.”
A Beautiful, Emotional Ceremony
Even though it was small, the day was full of emotion. Wendy surprised Mark by wearing a stunning wedding dress, and he was completely overwhelmed when he saw her – pure, happy tears. Mark wore his kilt, and the two of them just glowed with excitement and love. It was one of those moments where I honestly felt like I was just hanging out with friends, capturing natural, joyful memories.
St Andrews Square Magic
After the ceremony, we wandered around St Andrews Square and found some gorgeous cherry blossom trees. Wendy & Mark just roamed, laughed, and enjoyed the moment together – no stiff posing, no rushing, just letting the day unfold naturally. The sun was shining, the light was perfect, and we captured some beautiful, intimate couple photos that really reflect their personalities and their love for each other.

Drinks, Hugs & Good Times
Once the photos were done, Wendy & Mark went up to the terrace with their immediate family to enjoy some drinks. The day was simple, relaxed, and utterly joyful – exactly how they wanted it. I left feeling so grateful they’d decided to have me there, and it was a privilege to document such a personal and emotional day.
Why I love Small Weddings
Even the tiniest celebrations are full of big moments. Intimacy, laughter, emotion – these are the things I live to capture. Wendy & Mark’s day reminded me why I adore photographing weddings of all sizes: every love story deserves to be celebrated, no matter how small.
